‘Girls, step into the future!’ project helps young women develop digital skills in Bosnia and Herzegovina

A final event for the ‘Girls, step into the future!’ project was organised on 4 December 2020 by the Association of Informatics in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event, which was organised under strict Covid-19 rules, marked the end of the project that involved 45 students from high schools in Zavidovići, Sokolac and Novi Travnik.

As part of the project, the students mastered the techniques of creating a website and took ECDL certification tests.

The event included a panel discussion on ‘Living and working in the IT sector, is there room for girls?’ Before the panel discussion, the girls presented their opinions and impressions about the entire project, the manner and intensity of the training, and interesting situations during the training. All students expressed great satisfaction that they participated in the project.

The panellists were 4 young women employed in the IT sector who shared their experiences and impressions about different jobs in the IT sector. This was very interesting and useful for the girls because they are facing the biggest challenge in life: which vocation to choose.

The $25,000 project was funded by the US Embassy in Sarajevo and implemented by the Association of Informatics in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
