ECDL Cyprus launches ECDL Computing with an e-Learning Platform

The Cyprus Computer Society, the National Operator of the ICDL programme in Cyprus is launching the Computing module as of October 1, 2019. As part of a campaign to inform the test centers and trainers about the new module the CCS organised two informative webinars in which participation exceeded expectations. More than 60 trainers and test center representatives participated, both from public, private schools and training centers.

Mr Panicos Masouras, Project Manager of ECDL Cyprus, along with Mr Ioannis Dourvas, Founder of Coyote Learner STEM Academy, presented the goals and benefits of the new module and demonstrated the e-learning platform that will be supporting the learning process towards achieving the certification in the Computing module. The participants showed great interest and excitement during the presentation.

The learning platform proposes a 56-teaching-hour curriculum and includes content such as lesson plans, presentations, animated videos, quizzes, games (such as in-browser crosswords, the famous game, millionaire, etc.), in-browser Python windows and a rich set of exercises and their solutions. Unique to the e-learning platform is the fact that incorporates an introduction to robotics using the Edison robot which can be programmed with Python giving candidates a visual understanding of programming concepts. The platform is available both in Greek and English.
